Public Agencies Urged to Showcase Sector Achievements Through Community Impact

The Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, has called for a stronger focus on showcasing sector-specific achievements in ways that citizens can easily understand and appreciate.

Ms. Kainobwisho made this comment at a high-level follow-up meeting convened by Col. Edith Nakalema, Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), where leaders from key government agencies came together to enhance collaboration and streamline strategies for Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.

Agencies present included NEMA, Makerere University College of Health Sciences, National Housing & Construction Company Limited, URSB, Uganda Development Forum, and Government Citizen Interaction Center (GCIC)

“We should focus on sector-based achievements and develop a matrix showing each sector’s contribution. It is important to emphasize the community impact of our work through direct community engagements and also simplify our language for communication purposes to the public,” Ms. Kainobwisho noted.

Her comments resonated with the meeting’s broader goal: making government performance more visible, relatable, and impactful to communities. By highlighting achievements in housing, health, environment, business registration, and other sectors, agencies can bridge the gap between policy and lived experience.

Col. Nakalema reiterated that collaboration is more than a formality; it is a necessity to address the social service needs of Uganda’s younger generation. She urged agencies to take concrete steps in jointly engaging citizens, ensuring that the progress made in service delivery translates into tangible benefits at the grassroots.
