URSB Gears Up for APSD 2025 with Verified Team as Gov’t Cracks Down on Unfair Play

As the countdown to the 14th Africa Public Service Day (APSD) Sports Gala begins, the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) is reaffirming its commitment to integrity and transparency, on and off the field.

In line with new government directives promoting fairness, URSB has finalized preparations to field a fully verified team of staff to compete in the week-long event.

Slated for June 27th to 4th July, 2025, at Makerere University Main Sports Ground, the APSD Sports Gala brings together public service institutions in spirited competition across football, netball, volleyball, athletics, chess, tag of war, and the sack race.

This year, however, the Ministry of Public Service has tightened eligibility requirements following concerns over non-staff and professional athletes being drafted to boost institutional wins.

A circular issued on May 15, 2025, by Ag. Permanent Secretary Stephen Opio Okiror mandates that all competitors be confirmed employees of participating Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), verified through the Human Capital Management system.

URSB has responded swiftly to the call, aligning with its core values of professionalism, integrity, and public trust. The Bureau has already submitted its vetted team list, ensuring it meets the verification deadline.

As the Ministry bans all active national league players, URSB is ready to compete on with pride, unity, and a service-driven spirit.
