On 12th March 2025, at the Uganda Business Facilitation Center in Kololo, the Registrar General and the Presidential Adviser on Creatives discussed boosting creative sector monetization through improved stakeholder coordination and URSB reforms ahead of World Intellectual Property Day.


Board Chairman receives prestigious award for exemplary service to Uganda
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) Board Chairman, Rt. Hon. Amb. Francis Butagira, has been recognised with the prestigious ABETO Peace Award for his exemplary leadership and commitment to peaceful governance.
During a ceremony held on Thursday 27th March 2025 at Hotel Africana, Ambassador Butagira received the award in recognition of his “Peace, Tolerance, and Reconciliatory Approach while performing national duties.”
The ABETO Peace Award, presented by the African Brotherhood and Tolerance Organisation, celebrates individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to promoting harmony and understanding in their professional roles and communities.
Colleagues and officials at the event praised Ambassador Butagira’s diplomatic background and how he has applied these skills to his chairmanship at URSB, creating an environment that encourages dialogue and collaborative decision-making.
This recognition reflects not just on Ambassador Butagira’s personal leadership style, but also on URSB’s organisational values.
The award adds to Ambassador Butagira’s distinguished career, which includes significant diplomatic service representing Uganda on the international stage before assuming his role as URSB Board Chairman.
