URSB initiates school innovation centre set ups in Eastern Uganda
In a proactive move to enhance innovation within educational institutions, representatives from the URSB
Mbale Regional Office conducted a strategic pre-visit to Teso College Aloet on Friday.
The delegation met with key school leadership, including Mr. James Peter Olupot, Head of the Science Club, recognisable in his white attire, and The primary objective of this meeting was to establish cooperative ties for the implementation of a Technology and Innovation Support Centre (TISC) at the school.
This initiative aims to promote a culture of innovation among students and provide them with essential resources for technological advancement.
The regional team continued their outreach by visiting Soroti University, where they engaged with Professor Francis Ejobi, Director of Research and Innovation. Professor Ejobi discussed the establishment of a TISC Centre at the university level.
This dual-approach strategy—targeting both secondary and tertiary institutions—demonstrates a comprehensive effort to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the region. The TISCs are expected to
significantly enhance research capabilities and technological development across educational levels.
