NON-INDIVIDUAL REGISTRY BEGINS FY2026/27 STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENTS

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), through its Non-Individual Registry (NIR), has commenced stakeholder engagements for the Financial Year 2026/27, aimed at strengthening awareness, collaboration and compliance with the registration requirements for non-individual legal entities.

The first engagement is scheduled to take place at Hotel Africana in Moroto Town on Thursday, August 28, 2026. It will bring together key stakeholders, including local government leaders and technical officers, business owners, companies, partnerships, associations, cooperatives, community-based organisations, faith-based organisations, civil society organisations and other entities operating within the region.

The NIR was operationalised as part of URSB’s expanded mandate to establish and maintain a central register of non-individual legal entities that are not otherwise registered under existing specialised registration laws. The Registry provides a framework for the identification, registration and maintenance of accurate information on such entities, promoting legal certainty, transparency and accountability.

Through the stakeholder engagements, URSB seeks to deepen understanding of the NIR, its registration requirements and the benefits of formalisation. The engagements will also provide an opportunity to receive feedback, address emerging concerns and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders.

The Moroto engagement marks the beginning of a series of planned engagements across the country as URSB continues to promote compliance and ensure that more non-individual entities are brought into the formal economy.
