URSB Engages Arua Stakeholders on National Digital Register for Entity Verification
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has said the rollout of the Non-Individual Register (NIR), Uganda’s electronic repository and source of verified data on all entities, will strengthen entity authentication and provide a shared digital infrastructure for government institutions.
Speaking during a regional stakeholders’ engagement at Dreamland Hotel in Arua District on Tuesday, Deputy Registrar General Mr. Alex Anganya described the Non-Individual Register as a major milestone in streamlining how entities are identified, regulated, and supported in Uganda.
Mr. Anganya said the NIR will create a unified system that improves coordination among government agencies, enhances compliance, simplifies access to services, and supports effective government planning and policy implementation.
“Formalisation is at the heart of this initiative. When entities are formally registered and identifiable, they gain access to opportunities such as finance, government services, contracts, and markets. Formalization builds credibility, enhances trust, and enables businesses and organizations to grow sustainably,” he said.
The Arua Resident District Commissioner, Gore Goffin, expressed the government’s commitment to the successful operationalisation of the Non-Individual Register and called for collective responsibility among stakeholders to ensure the initiative achieves its intended objectives.
“With URSB’s continued efforts to improve accessibility and efficiency in registration services, I am confident that this initiative will achieve its intended objectives,” Goffin said.
In 2025, government amended the Tax Procedures Code Act to provide for the issuance of an Entity Registration Number by URSB after admission onto the Non-Individual Register.
