URSB Board Chair Calls for Formal Registration of Entities to Boost Trust and Growth
The Board Chairman Rt. Hon. Amb. Francis K. Butagira has called on entities across Uganda to embrace formal registration to improve accountability, trust, and national development.
Speaking during the Stakeholder Sensitisation Workshop on the Non-Individual Registry at Las Vegas Garden Hotel in Mbarara, Amb. Butagira praised URSB management and staff for organising the engagement and taking services closer to the people.
He said the Non-Individual Registry will create a reliable database of legally recognised organisations operating in Uganda. These include associations, trusts, NGOs, religious organisations, cooperatives, political parties, cultural institutions, and trade unions.

According to Amb. Butagira, the absence of a harmonised registry for many years, created challenges in verification, governance, compliance, and access to reliable information about institutions.
He explained that the new registry will help close these gaps by promoting proper identification and formal registration of organisations across the country.
Amb. Butagira noted that formalisation is important for economic transformation because registered organisations are better placed to attract partnerships, access financing opportunities, and earn public trust.

He reaffirmed URSB’s commitment to improving service delivery and supporting organisations to operate in a more transparent and organised manner.
