Justice Minister Praises URSB as Uganda’s Best Government Agency

The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. Norbert Mao, has praised the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) as the best government agency in Uganda, commending the institution for its continued transformation, innovation and commitment to efficient public service delivery.

The Minister made the remarks while addressing the URSB Board and Management during a high-level engagement held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The engagement provided an opportunity for the Bureau’s leadership to share its progress, key achievements and strategic priorities, while receiving guidance on areas critical to its continued growth.

Hon. Mao applauded URSB for its strong leadership, improved service delivery and ability to respond to the changing needs of citizens and the business community. He noted that the Bureau had distinguished itself through innovation, professionalism and a clear focus on delivering services that contribute to Uganda’s economic and social development.

He also recognised the important role played by the URSB Board and Management in providing strategic direction and ensuring that the institution continues to effectively fulfil its expanding mandate. The Minister encouraged the leadership to sustain the momentum, strengthen teamwork and continue pursuing reforms that make government services more accessible, efficient and responsive to the public.

The engagement further highlighted the importance of continuous improvement within public institutions. As citizens increasingly expect faster, simpler and more accessible government services, institutions such as URSB play a critical role in improving the business environment and supporting national development.

For URSB, the Minister’s recognition comes at a time when the Bureau continues to invest in digital transformation, service innovation and initiatives aimed at making registration and related services more convenient for citizens and businesses.

The remarks by Hon. Mao therefore serve as an encouragement to the URSB Board, Management and staff to maintain the standards that have earned the institution recognition while continuing to identify new ways of improving service delivery.

The engagement reaffirmed the importance of strong leadership, innovation and teamwork in building a public institution that responds effectively to the needs of Ugandans. It also underscored URSB’s growing role as a key institution in supporting Uganda’s business environment and wider economic development.
