Two Days to Go: Momentum Builds Ahead of the Audiovisual Seminar
With just two days to go, anticipation is mounting for the 4th African Regional Seminar on Copyright and Related Rights in the Audiovisual Sector, slated for September 10th and 11th, 2025, at Onomo Hotel.
Organized jointly by the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and Fundación AISGE, in collaboration with WIPO, the Global Audiovisual Alliance (GAVA), and the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), the seminar has spurred interest across Africa.
The two-day gathering will convene a diverse network of industry stakeholders, including audiovisual collective management organizations (CMOs), copyright office representatives from ARIPO member states, and creative professionals from nations such as Nigeria and South Africa. Among the keynote figures expected is Uganda’s Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. Norbert Mao, who will serve as Chief Guest during the opening session.
The seminar aims to deepen awareness of copyright frameworks, strengthen the function and oversight of CMOs, and ensure fair remuneration mechanisms for audiovisual creators. By spotlighting copyright’s economic impact and reinforcing regional collaboration, this forum underscores Africa’s drive to fortify its creative industries.
As the countdown enters its final phase, stakeholders are urged to seize this rare platform for capacity building, dialogue, and forging sustainable pathways for the continent’s audiovisual innovators.
