URSB celebrated World IP Day in elegance

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) celebrated this year’s World Intellectual Property (IP) Day on 25th April 2025, in a stunning display of creativity and unity. Held at the Level 2 Auditorium of the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre, the event attracted a diverse audience, including the Minister of Justice, members of Parliament, creatives, and policymakers.

The venue was adorned with vibrant colours, symbolising creativity, growth, and prosperity, as attendees gathered to discuss the vital role of intellectual property in fostering Innovation and Economic Development.

The celebrations were conducted following the theme: IP and Music; Feel the Beat Of IP,” where esteemed
speakers, including Minister of Justice Hon. Norbert Mao, Chairman of the Board Amb. Francis K. Butagira,
and Registrar General Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, delivered inspiring remarks that set the tone for the day.

A highlight of the event was a thought-provoking roundtable discussion addressing the challenges and
opportunities in the commercialisation and enforcement of rights within the music industry. This engaging dialogue featured industry leaders and experts, offering valuable insights into the future of Uganda’s creative sector.

The celebration concluded with an electrifying performance by celebrated artist Naava Grey, whose
powerful vocals captivated the audience, leaving them in a state of excitement and emotional connection.
