Insolvency as strategy: URSB champions business rescue at 8th Annual Conference
The 8th Annual Insolvency Conference took on a transformative tone as URSB Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, called for a shift in mindset from viewing insolvency as a failure to embracing it as a tool for business resilience and growth.
Delivering her keynote at the 8th Annual Insolvency Conference, Registrar General Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho emphasised that the event was not merely a forum for discussion, but a strategic platform for shaping the future of Uganda’s business landscape.
“We aim to change the narrative around insolvency from one of stigma to one of strategy,” she declared.
Ms. Kainobwisho revealed that more than 500 businesses have already undergone training to equip them with tools to manage financial distress and remain sustainable. She praised the efforts of the URSB team and partner institutions in driving the agenda of business rescue forward.
A key highlight of the day was the launch of the third edition of the Insolvency Journal, a knowledge resource designed to support the development of practical, effective rescue mechanisms. These collective efforts underline URSB’s commitment to fostering a resilient, innovative, and inclusive business environment for Uganda’s economic transformation.
