Mr Godfrey Tumwesigye is the Director of Human Resources and Administration at Uganda Registration Services Bureau.
He has a wealth of experience (27 years) in human resource management, public administration, consultancy and university lectureship. He was the pioneer Director of Human Resources at Kyambogo University where he introduced a results-oriented management approach, a robust performance management system, streamlined payroll management and coordinated the recruitment of more than 300 employees including members of top management such as Deputy Vice Chancellors, University Secretary, Director Planning etc. Mr Tumwesigye was also a Human Resource and Administration Manager at Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation, where he was responsible for the entire spectrum of HR and administration functions. Earlier he served as a Senior Consultant at Uganda Management Institute in the Department of General Management; he was the pioneer Resident Manager of Mbarara Outreach Centre of UMI. He also served for 5 years as a Principal Education Officer in the Ministry of Education and Sports. Godfrey has taught management, human resource and project planning management at Makerere University Business School, Uganda Management Institute, and Mbarara University of Science and Technology.
Godfrey holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA, HRM major) from Makerere University, a postgraduate Diploma in Business Management of Uganda Management Institute (UMI), a postgraduate diploma in education (MUK) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science (MUK). He recently successfully defended his dissertation for the award degree of Doctor of Philosophy of Makerere University. His PhD project explored the relationship between HRM practices and turnover intentions. In 2004 he was awarded an advanced certificate in Education Planning and Research by the University of Belfield, Germany. And in 2009 he earned a certificate of accreditation as a Microfinance Trainer of Trainers from African development/World Bank Learning Centre. He is a member of the Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU).
