URSB validates Business Rescue Programme to sharpen support for struggling enterprises

Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) Department of Insolvency and Receivership held a Monitoring and Evaluation validation meeting for its Business Rescue and Aftercare Programme (BRAP), gathering entrepreneurs from the first to third cohorts to assess the initiative’s impact and chart a path for improvement.

Mr. Mustapher Ntale, Deputy Registrar General – Registries, representing the Registrar General, noted that URSB’s shift to an engage-early approach gave birth to BRAP. He emphasised the importance of evaluating outcomes by hearing directly from participants. “What is working? What do we need to improve? Feedback helps us refine what we serve,” he said.

Ms. Rachael Niringiye, Senior Registration Officer, presented an overview of BRAP, whose curriculum covers financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and business planning through a five-day training programme. The meeting sought to assess training relevance, identify challenges, evaluate effectiveness, and determine how participants are applying acquired knowledge.

Senior Consultant James Bulenzibuto moderated the session with entrepreneurs, during which discussions revealed that the initial report had missed several key issues, gaps that participants were able to clearly articulate.

Ms. Carol Nazziwa, representing the Commissioner for Insolvency and Receivership, assured attendees that URSB would incorporate all feedback into a revised report for management consideration, with the ultimate goal of improving the BRAP training programme curriculum.
