URSB Staff Appreciation Month Shines with Talent, Team Spirit, and Unforgettable Moments

The month of May at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) became a vibrant celebration of gratitude, energy, and raw talent, as the organization hosted its inaugural Staff Appreciation Month, a series of thoughtfully curated events designed to honor the incredible workforce that fuels URSB’s vision of excellence and service. From heartfelt magazine tributes to electrifying stage performances, staff came together like never before, culminating in the unforgettable URSB Got Talent showcase that left the Bureau buzzing with pride and inspiration.

Here’s to celebrating you! That was the rallying cry as URSB marked International Labor Day and extended the spirit of appreciation throughout May with a host of exciting staff-centered activities. Anchored by the Human Resource Department, this initiative reflected the Bureau’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of appreciation, inclusion, and recognition for its greatest asset: its people.

The celebration kicked off with staff spotlight stories in the weekly magazine, where colleagues from across departments were profiled and applauded for their contributions, passion, and values. These features became a source of pride and positivity, thus connection and mutual appreciation within the URSB family.

Next came the bonding fitness exercise, a high-energy activity that got hearts pumping and laughter flowing. The event wasn’t just about physical wellness; it was about building bonds, breaking barriers between departments, and reinforcing the collective spirit of “one team, one dream.”

Another emotional highlight was the signing of the Staff Appreciation Board, where staff members penned messages of encouragement, gratitude, and unity. The board soon became a mosaic of heartfelt expressions; proof of a thriving workplace culture rooted in mutual respect and shared purpose.

But the crown jewel of the celebrations was undoubtedly the URSB Got Talent show, held on Friday, June 13th, 2025, at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre. Under the dazzling theme “Step into the Hall of Fame,” the event brought together staff from all corners of the Bureau for an evening that celebrated creativity, courage, and community spirit.

With over ten acts competing, the talent showcase featured a delightful mix of music, dance, poetry, comedy, and drama, revealing the remarkable artistic flair hidden within the URSB corridors. Each performance was greeted with loud cheers and standing thumbs up as staff took to the stage with pride and passion.

Mr. Chrizestom Wamala, from the Finance and Administration Department, stole the show with a magnetic performance that combined humour, charisma, and stage mastery. His act earned him top honors for creativity and audience engagement.

In the team category, the night reached a victorious high when “God’s Army,” led by the ever-energetic Registrar General Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, was crowned the overall winner. Their powerful performance and unified coordination left the audience in awe. The Registrar General’s participation was not just inspiring; it sent a clear message about unity, inclusion, and leadership through action.

The Copyright Department and Insolvency & Receivership Team followed in second and third places respectively, both winning praise for their ingenuity and enthusiasm.

As the evening wound down with a live band, dancing, and well-deserved awards for all participants, there was a deep sense of pride in the air. Gifts and recognition were presented to winners, not just for entertaining the crowd, but for contributing to a culture of engagement and togetherness.

URSB’s first-ever Staff Appreciation Month proved to be more than a series of events; it was a movement. One that celebrated not only what staff do, but who they are. With the success of URSB Got Talent and the overwhelmingly positive response to all activities, appreciation, when shared meaningfully, creates an effect of joy, unity, and purpose. As URSB continues its journey toward excellence, this unforgettable month will be remembered as the moment the people behind the work stepped into the spotlight and truly shined.
