URSB Engages Film Producers on Copyright at Producers Guild Annual Meeting

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) participated in the National Producers Guild of Uganda Annual General Meeting to engage stakeholders on issues shaping Uganda’s creative and film industry

On Thursday, 30 July 2026, the Department of Copyright and Neighbouring Rights participated in the Annual General Meeting of the National Producers Guild of Uganda (PGU) held at the Guild’s headquarters in Lungujja, Kampala.

The meeting brought together members of the Guild and stakeholders in Uganda’s film industry to discuss the Guild’s progress, strategic priorities and ways to strengthen its operations through board restructuring and reassignment of responsibilities.

The Producers Guild of Uganda is the professional body representing film and television producers in Uganda and works to promote capacity building, industry partnerships, copyright protection, market access and the professional development of producers.

URSB’s participation highlighted the importance of copyright protection in the creative sector and provided an opportunity to engage industry players on issues affecting creators and producers. The engagement also reinforced the Bureau’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote innovation and safeguard intellectual property rights.

As Uganda’s film industry continues to grow, collaborations between government institutions and industry stakeholders remain essential in creating an enabling environment for creatives to thrive.

URSB remains committed to supporting the creative economy through effective copyright services, stakeholder engagement and public sensitisation on intellectual property rights.
