URSB Gears Up for World IP Day Celebrations with Focus on Sports and Innovation
The countdown is on as the Uganda Registration Services Bureau prepares to celebrate this year’s World Intellectual Property Day celebrations. On Friday, April 24, URSB will host the event at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre, bringing together students, innovators, and sports enthusiasts.
A key highlight will be the 2026 Moot Court Competition, where young participants from top universities will argue intellectual property cases, digesting into the future of innovation and law in Uganda. For many, it is a hands-on experience that connects classroom learning to real-life challenges.
Celebrated globally every April 26 by the World Intellectual Property Organization, World IP Day raises awareness about how ideas are protected and shared. This year’s theme, “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate,” shines a light on the role of creativity in the world of sports.
From sportswear and equipment to broadcasting and team branding, intellectual property supports the ideas that drive the industry. It helps creators, athletes, and businesses turn innovation into opportunity.
This year also features a global youth video competition, encouraging young people to showcase how innovation is shaping sports.
Through these celebrations, URSB is highlighting that behind every great sporting moment is an idea, and every idea deserves protection.
