URSB Sets Up 39th Innovation Centre at Ombaci School in Arua
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau has expanded its innovation support network with the establishment of the 39th Technology and Innovation Support Centre (TISC) at St. Joseph’s College Ombaci in Arua.
The centre was set up last week by a URSB team led by Assistant Commissioner for Patents and Industrial Designs, James Tonny Lubwama, working with the Arua Regional Office. The launch of this TISC highlights the bureau’s effort to take innovation services to schools and communities.
St. Joseph’s College Ombaci, founded in the 1940s as a technical school, and has grown into a strong centre for practical skills, research, and innovation. The school has performed well in national science and innovation competitions and has developed projects such as an automatic fire detector and renewable energy solutions.
The new TISC will provide students and teachers with access to intellectual property information, research tools, and guidance on how to protect and develop their ideas. URSB says this will help young innovators turn their ideas into useful products and services.
The initiative is part of URSB’s IP in Schools programme, which aims to promote a culture of innovation and creativity among learners.
By setting up such centres, URSB is supporting the growth of a knowledge-based economy and helping Uganda’s young people find practical solutions to everyday challenges.
