URSB Sensitises Women Entrepreneurs on Business Formalisation and Intellectual Property Protection
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) participated in an exhibition and panel discussion on business formalisation and intellectual property protection during the International Women’s Day celebrations held on 7th March 2026 at the House of Revival Church.
The event was attended by over 200 women entrepreneurs operating micro, small and emerging businesses from Kisota, Kyanja, Kulambiro, Kungu, Komamboga, Ntinda and Kisaasi in Kampala.
The engagement aimed at equipping women entrepreneurs with knowledge on how to formalise and protect their businesses.
During the panel discussion on business formalisation, URSB representatives provided guidance on the procedures and requirements for registering businesses and protecting business brands.
Ms Charlotte Mudoola explained the process and fees for business name registration, including name reservation and registration through the Online Business Registration System (OBRS). She encouraged entrepreneurs to formalise their businesses to enhance credibility and access opportunities such as financing and partnerships.
Ms Sarah Rukundo guided participants on the process and fees for trademark registration, emphasising the importance of protecting business brands and how trademarks help entrepreneurs build sustainable and recognisable businesses.
Following the panel discussion, URSB officers engaged participants at the exhibition desk, where entrepreneurs sought clarification on business registration and trademark protection services offered by URSB.
