Government Applauds URSB for Setting New Standard in Public Service Delivery

The Deputy Head of Public Service and Deputy Secretary to Cabinet, Teopista Mary Wenene, has hailed the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) for attaining the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification, describing it as a clear demonstration of institutional transformation and commitment to quality public service delivery.

Speaking as Chief Guest during celebrations marking the milestone at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre in Kololo last week, Wenene commended the Bureau for embracing systems that promote accountability, efficiency and results-driven management. She noted that the certification reflects deliberate efforts by URSB to align its operations with internationally recognized standards.

“URSB stands out as a perfect example of a government agency that has embraced transformation through systems, accountability and results-oriented management,” she said, adding “it is a statement of commitment to efficiency, transparency and citizen-centred service delivery.”

Ms. Wenene emphasized that quality management systems such as ISO 9001:2015 play a crucial role in strengthening public institutions and improving the delivery of services to citizens and businesses.

She also noted that URSB has increasingly become a reference point for institutional reform within government. Last year, the Head of Public Service, Ms Lucy Nakyobe, led a team of Permanent Secretaries to the Bureau for a benchmarking visit aimed at learning from its systems, digital innovations and service delivery models.

Wenene said such recognition underscores URSB’s growing reputation as a model government agency, noting that the Bureau’s progress contributes significantly to national economic development.
