Justice Minister Hon. Norbert Mao, URSB delegation Join Global IP Leaders at IP Week 2025
The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. Norbert Mao, together with the Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho and her team, last week participated in the Global Forum on Intellectual Property (IP) Week in Singapore. The high-level engagement positions Uganda among countries actively shaping conversations on Innovation, Intellectual Property, and economic transformation.
Organized by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, the annual forum is now in its 14th edition and has grown into a premier gathering of global IP thought leaders, legal experts, policymakers, and innovators. This year’s theme, “Ideas to Assets: Innovating in Times of Change,” highlighted the growing importance of intellectual property in helping nations and enterprises adapt to evolving global challenges.
The event emphasized international collaboration, drawing a diverse range of experts to explore how intangible assets such as creativity, knowledge, and innovation can be effectively managed to drive competitiveness and sustainable growth.
URSB’s participation reflects Uganda’s pledge to strengthen its IP systems and create opportunities for local innovators. By engaging with global stakeholders, Uganda seeks to foster strategic partnerships, adopt best practices, and ensure that its innovation ecosystem remains dynamic and future-ready.
Hon. Mao highlighted the vital role of intellectual property in unlocking Uganda’s potential, noting that collaboration at this level equips the country with tools to empower creators and attract investment.
Through its presence at IP Week, URSB confirms its mission to transform Ugandan ideas into globally competitive assets.
