URSB Hosts Lesotho Delegation to Strengthen Business Law Practices
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) Last week hosted a delegation from the Registrar of Companies in Lesotho for a benchmarking visit aimed at strengthening collaboration in business regulation and law enforcement.
The visiting team sought to learn from URSB’s implementation of Beneficial Ownership, Insolvency and Receivership laws; areas considered critical in promoting transparency, accountability, and investor confidence. Beneficial Ownership regulations, in particular, are vital in identifying individuals who ultimately control or benefit from companies, thereby helping to combat illicit financial flows and improve corporate governance.
The delegation commended URSB for its cordial working relationship and noted the value of knowledge exchanges between the two institutions. They also expressed appreciation for lessons shared during an earlier visit that focused on the automation of business registration processes. Automation has been a cornerstone of URSB’s reforms, reducing bureaucracy and making it easier for entrepreneurs to formally register and operate their businesses.
During the discussions, both parties acknowledged the importance of learning from one another in order to strengthen institutional capacity and create systems that better serve citizens. Continuous collaboration, they agreed, will help improve service delivery, promote ease of doing business, and enhance regional cooperation.
“Learning from each other as we create and co-create value for the people we serve remains central to our mission,” said Mr. Arthur Kwesiga, Commissioner ICT.
The visit underscores the growing partnership between Uganda and Lesotho in building stronger, more transparent, and efficient business environments.
