Lesotho Delegates Pay Courtesy Visit to the Registrar General

A delegation from the Registrar of Companies in Lesotho paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, last week as part of their benchmarking mission in Uganda. The visit highlighted the increasing cooperation between Uganda and Lesotho in enhancing business practices and legal frameworks.

The delegates were warmly welcomed by Ms. Kainobwisho and her team, who shared insights into Uganda’s experiences in business regulation, particularly in Insolvency and Receivership laws. Discussions also touched on best practices in Beneficial Ownership, an area where Uganda has made significant steps in improving transparency and corporate accountability.

The visiting team was awarded gifts that celebrated the partnership between the two institutions, a norm that the bureau has embraced to make our guests feel at home and a part of us. Both parties agreed on continuous collaboration and learning from each other’s successes to improve service delivery and create value for the people they serve.

Ms. Kainobwisho noted that exchanges such as these strengthen regional cooperation while also building stronger institutional frameworks. “Collaboration and knowledge sharing are key to building resilient systems that support economic growth and safeguard the interests of businesses and citizens,” she said.

The courtesy visit was part of a broader benchmarking tour, during which the Lesotho delegation engaged with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) on automation of business registration, enforcement of insolvency laws, and strategies to enhance efficiency in corporate governance.
