200 Young Entrepreneurs to Benefit from Scholars Entrepreneurship Fund
Over 200 youth entrepreneurs are set to benefit from business training, start-up capital, and mentorship under the Scholars Entrepreneurship Fund (SEF), a joint initiative of BRAC Uganda and the Mastercard Foundation. The announcement was made during the Bi-annual Regional Policy Dialogue on Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship, where Ms. Eunice Alwaro, a Registration Officer, delivered a keynote presentation on the initiative’s impact.
The SEF project was established to provide practical support to alumni of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program who aspire to develop or expand their businesses. By offering entrepreneurship training, start-up and booster capital, as well as mentorship, the initiative addresses one of the biggest challenges facing young Ugandans: access to resources and guidance in business development.
During her presentation, Ms. Alwaro emphasized the importance of equipping young people with both the financial and non-financial tools needed to succeed. “Our goal is not just to provide capital, but to ensure these entrepreneurs have the knowledge, networks, and mentorship that will sustain their enterprises long-term,” she noted.
The Policy Dialogue was attended by key stakeholders, development partners, and private sector leaders to discuss strategies for tackling youth unemployment, a challenge that affects a significant proportion of Uganda’s young population.
The SEF initiative will nurture a new generation of Ugandan entrepreneurs who will contribute to both local and regional development.w
