URSB Showcases Digital Transformation at Uganda Law Society TECHFEST 2025

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau has showcased its cutting-edge digital innovations at the Uganda Law Society’s TECHFEST 2025, held from August 14–15 at the Commonwealth Resort, Munyonyo.

The two-day festival, themed “The Radical New Bar Digital Transformation Festival,” comprised discussions, exhibition booths showcasing how digital solutions are reshaping the legal and business environment in Uganda.

At the bureau’s exhibition booth, URSB highlighted two flagship systems driving e-governance: the Online Business Registration System (OBRS) and the Intellectual Property Automation System (IPAS). OBRS enables clients to register businesses entirely online, cutting out physical visits and reducing turnaround times. Meanwhile, IPAS has streamlined the registration and management of intellectual property, offering creators transparent, efficient, and reliable protection for their innovations.

Attending the event was the team led by the Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, showcasing how innovations promote business formalization, ease of doing business, and the safeguarding of intellectual property rights. Visitors to the URSB booth received on-the-spot support and demonstrations of the digital platforms in action.

The festival was officiated by Hon. Norbert Mao, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, who commended URSB for its role in advancing digital service delivery. Accompanied by Ms. Kainobwisho, the Minister toured the URSB exhibition stall and lauded the agency’s efforts to streamline registration processes.

URSB’s participation in the TECHFEST 2025 demonstrates its leadership in Uganda’s digital transformation journey and its commitment to inclusive access to justice and business services.
