URSB Engages Mbale Industrial Park Manufacturers on Compliance and Intellectual Property
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau has strengthened its partnership with SINO Uganda Mbale Industrial Park by engaging manufacturers on key post-registration and compliance matters.
The engagement, which was attended by entrepreneurs and administrators last week, sought to improve business operations and competitiveness.
During the meeting, the URSB Mbale Regional Head, Ms. Eunice Agoro, made a presentation on the Bureau’s services, with a strong focus on compliance obligations that follow company incorporation. Manufacturers were guided on the importance of meeting legal requirements in order to operate sustainably and avoid penalties.
Another key area of discussion was intellectual property (IP) registration, especially trademarks and industrial designs. Ms. Agoro encouraged manufacturers to protect their brands and product designs as a way of securing market identity, preventing imitation, and enhancing competitiveness both locally and internationally.
Participants welcomed the practical guidance, noting that owning IP rights would add value to their enterprises and build trust with consumers.
The administrators of the Industrial Park commended URSB for the timely support extended to entrepreneurs, saying the sensitization will go a long way in strengthening formalization and easing business operations.
Ms. Agoro emphasized that such engagements raise awareness amongst entrepreneurs to promote business growth through registration, compliance, and protection of intellectual property. The partnership with Mbale Industrial Park is expected to boost investor confidence and contribute to Uganda’s goal of creating a more enabling business environment.
