SIMPO Applauded for Surpassing Revenue Targets, armed for bigger Role in Expanding Access to Credit
The Deputy Registrar General, Mr. Alex Anganya, has commended the Securities and Movable Property Registry Operations (SIMPO) Division for exceeding its Non-Tax Revenue (NTR) target for the 2024/25 financial year, calling for renewed strategies to drive even greater impact.
Speaking at the SIMPO Division’s two-day retreat held at Esella Country Hotel from August 7th to 8th, 2025, Mr. Anganya applauded the team’s dedication, supported by management and key stakeholders, as the force behind their good performance.
Internationally, he highlighted a significant milestone, the approval of the Movable Asset-Based Lending (MABL) Project, a collaboration between the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED). The project, he noted, is set to commence once MoFPED signs off.
“This retreat is not just to celebrate past success, but to map out strategies to make the registry’s performance even better,” Mr. Anganya said.
He emphasized that access to credit remains a top government priority in fostering a more formalized economy. SIMPO’s online platform, which allows creditors to register security interests backed by movable property, has created new financing avenues for micro, small, and medium enterprises, as well as women and youth without traditional collateral.
Mr. Anganya urged the division to build on its achievements, aligning its services with national economic goals while continuing to catalyze inclusive growth.
