URSB Empowers Cooperatives at Kampala Archdiocese’s Community Development Exhibition

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) joined forces with 42 savings and credit cooperatives (SACCOs) and other church-affiliated organizations at the Naddangira Agali Awamu Cooperative Society Exhibition, held from August 1st to 3rd, 2025, at Naddangira Catholic Parish.

Organized by Caritas Kampala, the event aimed to promote financial inclusion, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods among participants while showcasing their impactful work within the community.

The event was held under the theme: “Cooperative: A Drive for Sustainable Financial, Social, and Integral Human Development.”

The bureau team, during the exhibition alongside other institutions, offered training to the participants on the importance of formalizing businesses, protecting intellectual property, and building compliant institutions capable of accessing credit and achieving sustainable growth.

Notable attendees included His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, Archbishop of Kampala, who visited the URSB tent to learn about the bureau’s central role in driving economic development. The event attracted a diverse crowd, including cooperative members, church leaders, and representatives from financial institutions, all eager to understand how proper registration and structured business practices can foster growth and stability.

URSB’s engagement at the exhibition reflects its ongoing dedication to grassroots economic empowerment, promoting legal and financial accountability within Uganda’s cooperative movement and making vital services more accessible to the community.
