URSB Empowers Youth Innovators at National Agricultural Education Show 2025
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) took a hands-on role in empowering the next generation of innovators at the 4th National Agricultural Education Show in Jinja last week, offering expert guidance on how to protect and commercialize their creations.
Held from July 6th to 12th at the Jinja Agricultural Showgrounds, the 2025 show attracted hundreds of students, innovators, and stakeholders under the theme “Seeds of Change: Young People Driving Innovations to Harness Agricultural Wealth.”
The event, organized by the Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) in partnership with MAAIF and the Ministry of Education, was officiated by State Minister for Higher Education, Hon. John Muyingo.
Commending the creativity and problem-solving exhibited by the youth, Hon. Muyingo attributed the surge in youth innovation to curriculum reforms and a focus on ICT and practical skills.
He urged students to register their innovations through URSB to protect their intellectual property and build viable businesses. “Our youth must be equipped to own their ideas and reap their full value,” he said.
URSB’s team, represented by Ms. Asiimwe Allen, Ms. Kamaranzi Karungi Fiona, and Mr. Ahumuza Martin Owen, engaged exhibitors, students, and schools in IP education and business registration support. From trademark searches to OBRS account creation, the Bureau offered hands-on services throughout the week.
URSB’s presence not only boosted IP awareness but also laid the foundation for future partnerships in agribusiness, including potential collaboration with the Bank of Uganda on Geographical Indication (GI) registration.
