URSB celebrates Uganda’s creative industry at 12th Film Festival

Last Friday, the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) proudly participated in the Uganda Communications Commission’s (UCC) 12th Edition of the Uganda Film Festival (UFF), themed “10 Years
of Harnessing the Uganda Creative Industry.”

Held at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) grounds in Nakawa, the dazzling awards gala brought together industry stakeholders, showcasing the artistic talents in Uganda, and celebrating local filmmakers’ achievements.

Led by Commissioner for Copyright and Neighbouring Rights, Ms. Miriam Nabatanzi, alongside Commissioner for Planning and Policy, Ms. Freda Bwiizi, and Senior Communications Officer, Mr. Steven Baryevuga, URSB joined industry stakeholders in honouring top talent and powerful narratives shaping Uganda’s film industry.

Ms. Nabatanzi emphasized the importance of supporting the creative sector. “At URSB, supporting the creative and arts industry is not just a mission, it’s a strategic agenda,” she stated. “We are dedicated to empowering all players in this dynamic field, ensuring that creativity can flourish and creators can derive value from their works.” URSB’s participation underscores its commitment to fostering a thriving environment for artists and creators. The Bureau also expresses gratitude to UCC for facilitating collaboration at this significant event.

The Uganda Film Festival is an initiative established by the Uganda Communications Commission in 2013 to promote the local film industry, generate a market for local content to international markets, and facilitate international trade and investment in the film Industry in Uganda
