Determined to be fit: URSB staff exposed as they sweat it out during workout session
On the mild Friday evening that marked the launch of Staff Appreciation Month, Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) staff turned up in sporty gear for what was billed as a “fun and refreshing workout session.” What unfolded instead was a reality check, the kind that had some staff questioning every ‘Amagara’ filling and elevator ride they have ever taken.
From Office Chairs to Squat Despairs
As the fitness instructor rallied the group into high knees and jumping jacks, it became immediately clear, the fitness levels were varied.
While the Gen Z staff moved with grace and rhythm, others looked like they had accidentally joined a military boot camp. “My legs betrayed me halfway through the warm-up,” joked some who opted for a very slow jog in place.
Despite the evident struggle, spirits remained high. Laughter echoed across the cafeteria area as colleagues encouraged one another through planks, stretches, and suspiciously long water breaks.
More Than Just Muscles
Beyond the sore muscles and exposed fitness truths, the session achieved its goal, uniting staff in fun, health, and appreciation.
With more activities planned throughout Staff Appreciation Month, one thing is clear: URSB’s strength isn’t just in systems and registrations — it’s in its people, their laughter, and their willingness to show up, even if it means wobbling through squats.
