URSB TREP Officer leads stakeholder engagement at Nansana Municipal Council
A significant stakeholder engagement session was held last week in Nansana Municipal Council, bringing together local business owners, community leaders, and municipal officials. The event, organised under the Taxpayer Register Expansion Programme (TREP), was facilitated by Oola Emmanuel, the TREP Officer for Nansana.
The well-attended gathering focused on educating participants about business formalisation processes and the benefits of proper registration with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB). Mr. Oola delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining simplified registration procedures and answered numerous questions from local entrepreneurs regarding documentation requirements and online system navigation.
“Our aim is to demystify the registration process and help business owners in Nansana understand how formalisation can protect their enterprises while contributing to local economic development,” Mr. Oola explained during the session.
Municipal officials praised the initiative, emphasising the importance of such outreach programmes in bridging information gaps between government agencies and the business community. Participants received practical guidance on accessing URSB’s online portal and completing necessary documentation.
This engagement forms part of URSB’s ongoing efforts to expand business formalisation across greater Kampala’s metropolitan area, with particular focus on high-growth municipalities like Nansana where informal business activity remains prevalent despite significant commercial development.
