URSB leads multi-regional TREP stakeholder engagements
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has completed a series of targeted stakeholder engagements across multiple regions to promote the Taxpayer Registration Expansion Programme (TREP).
Mr. Denis Nabende, Principal Public Relations and Corporate Affairs Officer, represented URSB at the
initiative, which covered key districts in both Western and Eastern Uganda.
In Western Uganda, the TREP team conducted extensive outreach in Ibanda and Rukungiri districts, engaging local business communities on registration requirements and compliance benefits. Similarly, Eastern Uganda saw focused stakeholder sessions in Njeru, Kapchorwa, and Busia, areas previously identified as priorities for business formalisation efforts.
The engagement campaign culminated with a collaborative radio programme on Radio West, where the
URSB team was joined by representatives from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and Mbarara City officials. The talk show provided a platform to elaborate on TREP’s objectives and clarify the specific roles of participating government agencies.
“Our multi-agency approach ensures comprehensive support for businesses transitioning to formal registration,” said one URSB staff.
“By bringing TREP information directly to these communities, we’re making compliance more accessible.”
The initiative reflects URSB’s commitment to decentralising services and increasing formal business registration across Uganda’s diverse regions, particularly in areas with historically lower rates of business formalisation.
