Parliamentary Committee conducts oversight visit to URSB Masaka Office

The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) Masaka Regional Office recently hosted a high-level delegation from Parliament as part of ongoing efforts to assess the implementation of digital government initiatives across the country.

The parliamentary committee on ICT and National Guidance, led by Hon. Tonny Ayoo, Member of Parliament for Kwania, conducted an oversight visit focused specifically on evaluating the performance and effectiveness of e-government services in the region.

The delegation included seven distinguished committee members: Hon. Micah Akasile, Hon. Siraji Brahan Ezama, Hon. Anne Mary Tumwine, Hon. Lawrence Songa Biyika, Hon. Geoffrey Eric Mutiwa, Hon. Bashir Mbaziira Kazibwe, and Hon. Joyce Baagala Ntwatwa, accompanied by technical support staff.

During the visit, the parliamentarians toured the facility, observed operational procedures, and engaged with staff to understand the challenges and successes in implementing digital services for the public.

URSB staff from the Masaka office presented key performance metrics and demonstrated the various electronic systems currently in use to streamline business registration, intellectual property protection, and other services offered by the bureau.

The committee’s findings from this visit will contribute to a comprehensive report on the state of e-government implementation in Uganda, which is expected to guide policy decisions and resource allocation in the coming fiscal year.
