




MAO TIPS TOP AND SENIOR MANAGEMENT ON LEADERSHIP
Members of Top and Senior Management have been called upon to exercise leadership and teamwork in the execution of their duties. The call was made by Hon. Norbert Mao, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs during the validation exercise of URSB’s Strategic Plan for 2025/2030 at Admas Hotel in Entebbe.
The validation retreat, held from 19th to 21st February 2025 featured discussions on URSB’s strategic direction as well as key priorities in line with the National Development Plan IV. Hon. Mao appealed to members to continuously work towards having a progressive organisational culture driven by results and
teamwork.
He further highlighted five traits of a dysfunctional team as inattention to results, avoidance of accountability, lack of commitment, fear of conflict, and absence of trust. He also emphasised the importance of publicly declaring and celebrating achievements as leaders, adding that no victory was too small to be celebrated. He encouraged members of Top management to always set the tone for their teams to follow as well as ensure they get the best out of every member of the team.
On his part, Board Chairman HE. Amb. Can. Francis K. Butagira appealed to members to intensify efforts to improve access to URSB services in hard-to-reach areas, strengthen efforts in growing the number of Geographical Indications in Uganda as well as love the URSB brand.
He committed the Board of Directors’ support to Management in the execution of their duties and driving
URSB’s vision. He encouraged Management to consider the operationalisation of an additional regional office to improve access to URSB services.
The Registrar General expressed her appreciation to the Honourable Minister, Chairman, and the Board of
Directors for the support extended to management over time. She acknowledged the oversight role that
the Board continued to provide adding it was a key driver in URSB’s performance. The Registrar General
later presented a paper on URSB’s performance.
