Strengthening Excellence: URSB Trains Staff in Effective Written Communication
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has concluded a two-day capacity-building training aimed at elevating the quality of written communication across all departments.
The training, held on 2nd and 3rd December at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre Auditorium, was facilitated by the Justice of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Florence Nakachwa Dollo.
The training brought together staff from various departments to sharpen their professional writing skills and reinforce high standards of service delivery.
The sessions focused on topics such as writing style, the use of plain language, effective sentence construction, correct application of punctuation, and the fundamentals of writing legal opinions. Participants engaged in practical exercises, group discussions, and an evaluation to assess the impact of the training.

Acting Deputy Registrar General, Ms. Miriam Nabatanzi, highlighted the importance of strengthening fundamental competencies that shape service excellence. “Effective written communication is non-negotiable. How we communicate in writing defines the quality of our work and reinforces our authority,” she noted.
Commissioner of Human Resources, Mr. Geoffrey Byamukama, emphasized that the training is vital for all staff, noting that clear and effective communication reflects both the quality of work and the commitment of the institution. “We all write, communicate, and produce vital documents that must be clear. Clarity of writing reflects the quality of our work,” he said.
The training marks another step in URSB’s ongoing effort to build a highly professional, efficient, and customer-centered workforce dedicated to delivering world-class services.
