URSB Staff SACCO Launches Trainings to Boost Financial Literacy and Affordable Loan Access

Last week, staff participated in a virtual training session on financial literacy organized by the URSB Staff SACCO. The focus was on the benefits of cooperative membership and financial empowerment. Rogers M. Abaho, the SACCO Manager, opened the session and emphasized that this initiative is part of the bureau’s efforts to promote financial inclusion.

Mr. Abaho introduced the day’s agenda by highlighting the SACCO’s key role in providing affordable loans to URSB employees and former staff. He emphasized that the SACCO offers more competitive loan rates compared to commercial banks, making it an attractive financial option for members.

During the session, he explained various savings products available, such as fixed savings, target savings, and total savings accounts, all designed to help members build a secure financial future while earning up to 10% interest annually.

He also highlighted important loan options, including school fees loans up to 5 million shillings and emergency loans up to 3.5 million shillings, aimed at supporting members during urgent financial needs.

To strengthen members’ financial knowledge, the Education and Mobilization Committee will conduct monthly financial literacy sessions. Members are encouraged to actively participate in all savings products to maximize benefits.

The training highlighted the SACCO’s dedication to empowering members to manage their finances effectively. Topics covered included savings strategies, opportunities, and efficient loan management, providing participants with knowledge on improved financial planning. Additional training sessions are scheduled to take place until the end of the year.
