URSB sets the pace for the New Financial year with bold targets and reforms
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) held its latest RG’s Fireplace session, themed “Setting Pace for the New Financial Year.” During the session, the bureau outlined goals for the new financial year while also celebrating significant achievements from the past year.
Held virtually on July 25, 2025, the RG’s Fireplace converged staff to reflect, re-strategize, and energize the team for the financial year 2025/26. The session, led by the Deputy Registrar General, Mr. Alex Anganya, and senior leadership, focused on driving performance, enhancing service delivery, and positioning Uganda as a top business destination.
In a detailed review, the Manager of Planning and Research, Mr. Baker Ssebudde, reported a 9.5% rise in non-tax revenue (NTR) to UGX 71.8 billion, URSB’s second-highest in history. The bureau registered 8,408 new companies and over 21,000 business names, while security interest notices jumped by 66%. Notably, 61 digital business clinics led to 6,000 new registrations and UGX 3.89 billion in revenue.
Through Intellectual Property, the Bureau celebrated major milestones, including the Women in IP Conference, international representation, and expanded IP enforcement and training efforts.
The Uganda Business Strategy 2023–2028 sets a bold and forward-looking agenda to position Uganda as the premier destination for doing business. By strengthening the legal and institutional framework, operationalizing key departments, and expanding access through digital transformation and widespread business registration initiatives.
The session wrapped with an energizing call to stay focused, work collaboratively, and keep the URSB flame burning strong throughout the year.
