URSB Boosts Staff Capacity with Cybersecurity Awareness Training
In a proactive step to strengthen digital resilience, the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) recently conducted a cybersecurity awareness training for staff, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to safeguard the organization’s digital assets.
With increasing reliance on digital systems, the threat of cyberattacks has become a major concern for organizations globally. Recognizing this, URSB organized a cybersecurity awareness session aimed at enhancing staff vigilance and reducing vulnerabilities that arise from human error.
The training covered fundamental cybersecurity principles, emphasizing the importance of protecting digital systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access, damage, or theft. Staff were introduced to the core pillars of cybersecurity: confidentiality, integrity, availability, authenticity, and responsibility, which form the backbone of a secure digital environment.
Key topics included identifying common cyber threats such as phishing emails, social engineering scams, ransomware, and software attacks. Practical tips were shared to help employees spot suspicious messages, avoid unsafe websites, use strong passwords, and implement safe browsing habits.
Staff were reminded that cybersecurity is not solely an IT concern but a shared responsibility across the organization. The training stressed that informed and alert employees are the first line of defense against data breaches, potential financial loss, and reputational damage.
By fostering a culture of information security, URSB aims to build trust with stakeholders and reinforce its commitment to protecting sensitive information.
