URSB: A Garden Where National Dreams Take Root
In a world where careers are often reduced to mere tasks and routines, the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) dares to offer something deeper. On June 20, 2025, new interns and clerks gathered at the UBFC Auditorium for a special engagement with the Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K Kainobwisho, and were welcomed not just into an institution but into a garden of opportunity.
“Think of URSB as a garden,” she continued, “and yourself as a farmer or seed planter.”
Drawing from the African proverb, “A child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth,” Ms. Kainobwisho emphasized the value of engagement, Values, and responsibility, qualities essential for building not just professionals, but custodians of national trust.
She encouraged interns to approach their roles with humility, character, and intentionality, like farmers who understand when, where, and how to plant. “Your role may appear routine,” she said, “but the truth is, it is revolutionary.”
The seeds being planted at URSB, she reminded them, are seeds of transformation. Every filing, interaction, and skill acquired has the potential to influence Uganda’s future.
In closing, Ms. Kainobwisho encouraged the interns to nurture not only their careers but also their minds, starting with a daily reading habit. She recommended the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey as a powerful starting point.
In this garden, those who plant with purpose will one day harvest a legacy.
