URSB Champions Innovation at Uganda’s First-Ever National Science Summit
Innovation takes center stage as the Uganda National Science Summit 2025 kicked off at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, marking a historic moment in the country’s journey toward a knowledge-based economy.
Held under the theme “Shining a Spotlight on Uganda’s Bold Journey of Turning Innovation into Market-Ready Solutions,” the summit is part of National Science Week 2025, running from June 15th to 20th.
The event is comprised of over 300 Ugandan innovators, scientists, industry leaders, and regulators, all showcasing groundbreaking developments, from electric vehicles to locally manufactured pharmaceuticals and smart electronics.
As a key player in innovation support, the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) is actively participating in the summit, offering guidance on intellectual property (IP) rights, patents, and innovation protection. URSB’s presence is critical in ensuring that Ugandan innovators not only create but also commercialize and protect their ideas.
“Uganda’s most valuable exports should not be limited to raw materials but also innovative ideas and technologies,” remarked Dr. Monica Musenero, Minister of Science and Technology.
URSB continues to empower creators by providing legal pathways for securing their inventions, turning local ideas into global opportunities. The summit reinforces the importance of IP awareness as a tool for economic growth, youth empowerment, and national transformation.
