URSB elevates IT service management with ITIL training
In light of the recent Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) training, Registrar General Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, emphasised the importance of adapting to daily advancements in technology. As organisations strive for enhanced service delivery, embracing contemporary methodologies has never been more critical.
From 5th to 8th May 2025, URSB took a significant step toward enhancing digital service delivery by equipping its IT team with internationally recognised IT service management skills. A comprehensive four-day ITIL training was conducted by certified instructors from Computer Learning Centre (CLC) Africa in the Level 2 Training Room. This initiative aims to strengthen the Bureau’s capacity to manage and deliver IT services efficiently across all departments.
Speaking to the IT Team, Ms. Kainobwisho highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) as a transformative force. “AI is no longer a distant concept; it’s essential for enhancing operations,” she stated, urging the team to proactively upskill in AI and emerging technologies to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Mr. Arthur Kwesiga, Director of ICT and Innovation, highlighted the training’s importance, stating, “This training focuses on IT service management and how to effectively manage IT services. Most, if not all, of our offerings are IT-based.” By adopting the ITIL framework, which provides structured practices to align IT services with customer and business needs, URSB is positioning itself for improved service delivery.
“This is the framework we have adopted, and it encompasses various practices,” explained Mr. Kwesiga. “Participants will be assessed at the course’s conclusion, paving the way for URSB to achieve certification in IT service management.” Through this alignment with ITIL best practices, URSB aims to deliver a seamless, efficient, and customer-centric experience for all stakeholders.
In addition, Ms. Kainobwisho proposed establishing a media library to document URSB’s achievements, including initiatives like Women in IP and Youth in IP, ensuring that the Bureau’s milestones are preserved for future reference. She commended the ICT team’s commitment, noting that the adoption of ITIL practices lays a solid foundation for broader technological advancement at URSB.
