Registrar General gives heartfelt speech on life, leadership and empowerment
The Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, delivered a heartfelt impromptu speech to the female staff on Friday as URSB celebrated an early International Women’s Day: “Life comes in different shades and materials. What material are you as a woman?” she asked. She illustrated her point by referencing the various shades of green dresses and their different textures in her closet – silk, linen, cotton, and chiffon.
Her message, echoing themes of resilience and leadership, highlighted the journey she’s had from starting as a state attorney in the Ministry of Justice in 2005 to rising through various leadership roles.
Ms. Kainobwisho shared personal struggles, recalling the challenges she faced as a woman in leadership: “I was hated on because of my performance. I was hated on by women, and yet I love women.” Despite the challenges, Ms. Kainobwisho encouraged the women to support one another, saying, “You don’t lose anything by lighting another woman’s candle.”
Her message of empowerment urged the female staff to embrace leadership and strive for success. “We are pieces of the puzzle that come to fill the bigger puzzle that is URSB,” she said. The breakfast event was a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of women in the workplace.
The URSB staff celebrated International Women’s Day with a vibrant display of colours and materials, marking the occasion in style.
